TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) Program + the John N. Rogers “Ball-less and Flawless” TNR Fund

TNR stands for Trap-Neuter-Return. Through TNR, we offer population control and humane help to feral cat colonies in the area, and keep kitties out of shelters. To learn more about TNR, visit Neighborhood Cats.

Thank you for reaching out to Karma Cat Rescue Society regarding your TNR request.  We are excited to partner with you to accomplish your goal of trapping, neutering/spaying, & returning your community cats back into the neighborhood.

Karma Cat will:

  • Provide necessary equipment (we rent out traps for a refundable deposit)
  • Provide training on how to trap and prepare the cats
  • Provide TNR appointments for a $25 fee per appointment
  • Check in on progress of how trap training is going in advance of the trapping date
  • Provide resources for you about TNR

Requester (that’s you) will:

  • Observe and note behaviors of the cats to learn where they walk, sleep, play, ect.
  • Feed the cats on a rigid schedule 2x a day, without leaving food out, until we can trap
  • Follow the trap training procedures and reference the electronic best practices document as needed (here)
  • Provide a pre-op and post-op holding facility that is quiet, safely away from other animals, & temperature controlled.  This could be a garage, laundry room, bathroom, basement, shed, closed spare room, etc.
  • Transport trapped cats in their covered trap to People For Animals (PFA) at 1 Sharon Rd., Robbinsville, NJ the morning of surgery between 8am – 8:30am sharp and after surgery between 4pm – 4:30pm sharp.  If you cannot transport the cat(s), please work with neighbors or family to help join the partnership.

To get started, email us at tnr@karmacat.org! Thank you for reaching out so we can help you help the cats!

Born in Honolulu, and raised in New Jersey, John N. Rogers was an animal lover for his entire life. As a child, his favorite cat Christopher jump-started his passion for our furry friends. More recently, his sidekick Keiki (Karma Cat Alumna) had John wrapped around her furry little paw! John was more than happy to also share his life with our amazing founder, Christie, their rescue pup Kona, a six-pack of rescued cats who included the original Karma of the original Karma Cat + Zen Dog and a long list of fostered cats and kittens who just needed a warm pit stop on their way to their forever homes.

John was integral to the beginnings of Karma Cat + Zen Dog Rescue Society (now Karma Cat Rescue Society), and an enthusiastic supporter and participant in Trap-Neuter-Return projects.

One of John’s other joys in life was motorcycles, riding “Wild and Free”, just how he hoped to see all feral cats be able to live. At the end of his battle against cancer, one of John’s final wishes was to continue to help TNR of cats, making sure to keep programs like this active and expanding.

Now, we are proud to have the John N. Rogers Ball-less + Flawless TNR Fund to help give those scrappy cats he loved a chance at a better and healthier life. This fund will support individuals in our community looking for TNR assistance through surgeries, vaccinations and microchips. We know John will be smiling along with us every time we hear the snap of a trap; his memory will live on in every ear tip we see.

John was the embodiment of pure organic kindness, and while he will no longer be here with us to rescue future homeless kitties, his legacy of empathy and love will live on through this fund.

Show the world your support with a t-shirt, tank top, sweatshirt, etc. in either WHITE INK or BLACK INK (so many options!!! )
