Great.com Interviews Karma Cat + Zen Dog

Have you ever heard of ‘community cats?’ These are felines that live in outdoor colonies. While some receive love and affection from humans, they face many challenges. These cats also contribute to the critical issue of overpopulation.

At Karma Cat + Zen Dog, we believe control, not capture, is the solution. The best way to prevent unadoptable cats from being taken to shelters is to stabilize the community cat population.

Through our TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return) program, we address community cat overpopulation. Working with residents, colony managers, and trappers, each cat is sterilized, vaccinated, ear-tipped, and microchipped.

Sheba, and her kittens, who were rescued during a TNR project.

We also offer resources and guidance to colony caretakers, and offer free TNVR clinics, called “Snip + Chip” events, to local trappers several times per year.

The Snip + Chip program was started in 2018 and more than 250 cats have been fixed through the program to-date!

Our Development Director, Rebecca, was recently interviewed by Great.com, to discuss this important topic. “Great.com Talks With” is a daily podcast that talks with organizations and experts dedicated to doing good in the world.
