Happy New Year! We are so excited for 2019, but last year was a truly monumental one for us, so we want to pause and honor it with a 2018 recap. Check out our 2018 highlights below:

First and foremost – we found 150 animals their forever homes.

When you boil it down, our main goal is to find animals loving homes – and we certainly hit that goal last year, finding 150 adorable pets their forever homes! If you’re looking for a new pet in 2019, stroll on over to our Adoption page to browse our current adoptables.

We opened our brand new Milltown Adoption Center!

A panorama view of our new adoption center.

This one is huge! In July of 2018, we opened the doors to our brand new Milltown Adoption Center. This new facility, located at 39 S. Main Street in Milltown, allows us to help up to approximately 20 more cats at a time, and works in conjunction with our existing North Brunswick PetSmart location. To celebrate this amazing new space, we hosted an awesome grand opening, complete with a special visit from Magic 98.3! If you want to visit our Milltown location, our adoption hours are Mondays and Tuesdays 12-2 PM, Wednesdays and Thursdays 5-7 PM, Fridays 4-6 PM, and Sundays 12-4 PM. Click here to learn more about our Milltown center, from Executive Director Christie’s point of view!

We grew our ‘ohana.

In 2018, we added a whopping 50 people to our volunteer family, or as we like to call it, our ‘ohana! Our volunteers are truly what enable KCZD to keep on steaming ahead and saving more and more adorable lives. Interested in joining our ‘ohana? We have a position for you! Our volunteer opportunities are flexible and we have something for everyone – from socializing our animals to fostering them, and everything in between. Haven’t volunteered before? No worries! We offer full training. Click here to learn more about volunteering with us!

What Lies Ahead in 2019

2018 was an epic year for KCZD, but trust us when we say we have big plans for 2019! Here are some of the things we’re looking forward to this year:

  • Pop-Ups Now that we have our very own space in Milltown, we look forward to hosting pop-up workshops and classes! Pop-up topics may include learning about volunteering, making DIY cat toys and more! Our first pop-up, an informational session about volunteering with us, will be hosted on January 26! Click here to learn more/RSVP.
  • Paws for Celebration We’re looking forward to our largest fundraising event of the year! Join us on Saturday, April 6 for a night filled with great food, awesome people, an amazing silent auction and, of course, a ton of fun with like-minded, animal-loving people. Click here to learn more/buy a ticket!
  • Fetch & Pounce Our annual 5K is back! We look forward to seeing all of you (and your pups, if you have ’em) in September! More details to come soon.
  • Snip & Chip We can’t wait to continue our community cat TNR sponsorship program, the Snip & Chip! This year’s first Snip & Chip will be held on on February 11, in conjunction with People for Animals in Robbinsville and North Brunswick Humane Association. At the event, we will be sponsoring the surgery and microchipping of feral community cats in central NJ. Check out our flyer and get more info below – and don’t worry if you can’t make this session; we have more planned for throughout the year!

Thank you for all of your support in 2018 (and beyond). We are excited to make 2019 a great year with you!
