Wow, Thank YOU, 2019!!

From everyone at Karma Cat + Zen Dog, happy New Year! 2019 was certainly one for the books, and we’re so excited to share the progress made this past year with you in today’s blog post. Some days it is hard to believe that just 10 short years ago this organization was formed! From a tiny organization that was just trying to get a bunch of neighborhood cats fixed and kittens into good homes to a standalone adoption center on a literal Main Street WOW. To say I am grateful is such an understatement THANK YOU to all our adopters, volunteers, donors and friends!! ~Christie Arlotta, Executive Director

Check out the at-a-glance 2019 numbers; it was a “year of the mosts!”

Read on to learn more about each “most!”

161 TNR’d Cats

In other words, we trapped, neutered, and returned 161 community (feral) cats! TNR is the most humane and effective way to manage community cat populations. Our Snip + Chip program was instrumental in reaching so many community cats this year. This program combined the efforts of colony caregivers/trappers, the People for Animals spay/neuter clinic, and funding from us and the North Brunswick Humane Association.

884 Adoption Hours

That’s a lot of meeting, greeting, and adopting! We held adoption hours every single week at the Milltown Adoption Center as well as the North Brunswick PetSmart. We’d love to be open 24/7 but the cats just won’t allow it! However, we are happy to make special adoption appointments for approved adopters. We’d love for more volunteers to become adoption counselors if you are a “people person” who has great listening skills, please apply here!

24 Shelter Pulls for 102 Total Animals

At Karma Cat + Zen Dog, we prioritize pulling animals from local municipal shelters to give them another chance, and to help shelters be able to take in more animals. Our partnership with the Woodbridge Animal Shelter has grown significantly while we still take animals from a few other municipal shelters. In order to do more, YOU can help by becoming a foster home! Learn more (and apply) here.

189 Volunteers

We’re not bragging, but our volunteers are the best (OK, yeah, we are bragging a little bit)! Along with taking wonderful care of our animals, they also walk together, dine together, craft together, and more! Check out the volunteer opportunities here and join us!

23 Events

Our events are the best, too. From wine tastings to axe throwing, we put the “fun” in “fundraising.” Our biggest event of the year, Paws for Celebration, is coming up and tickets and sponsorships are now available for purchase. Click here to learn more!

155 T-Shirts Sold

Our shirts are designed by volunteers, come in many different designs, and can be ordered in kids sizes, too! Select designs/styles are available at our Milltown Adopton Center or via PayPal. And you can check out all our other designs here.
